How to find the correct Com Port
§ First thing you should do is check the Device Manager on your computer to see what Ports are open and assigned.
§ Follow these steps to check your Device Manger:
1. Go to Start Menu and right click on the My Computer Icon.
2. Go to the Properties Link.
3. Select the Hardware Tab.
4. Select the Device Manager Button (see below).
5. Scroll down the list and select the Ports Icon.
6. Look for the assigned port or any open ports (see below).
7. Go back to the Opticon 9728 Setup Web Page and try those ports.
8. Once the correct port is selected, the browser will remember the port selection and you will not have to go through this process again.
If you’re using the direct Serial Connection to your computer, the computer usually assigns Com 1 or Com 2.
If you’re using a USB to Serial conversion cable, you should look for the name of your conversion cable (see highlighted example).
